Foot switches
for machines and other applications
ASA Schalttechnik offers a wide range of different foot switches for machines and other applications. The industrial foot switches provide suitable solutions wherever switching operations need to be triggered reliably but hands must remain free.
What is a foot switch and how does it work?
Alternative terms for foot switches are pedal switches, pedal actuators or pedal switches. This type of switch is an electrical switch for machines in which the switching process is triggered by stepping on a pedal with the foot. Electrical contacts are actuated depending on the pedal position. The foot switches for machines are placed on the floor and have different switching functions. They can be equipped with a push-button function that triggers a machine function when pressed and switches off again when released. A push-button function with a latching function element is also possible, in which the switch insert remains switched on after the foot pedal is pressed and is only switched off again when it is pressed again. Industrial foot switches with a pressure point offer a further switching function. Such switches have a double switching function. Depressing the foot pedal up to the pressure point switches the first contact, depressing the pedal beyond the pressure point switches an additional second contact. When the pedal is released, the switch switches back in reverse order.
The different foot switch series from ASA Schalttechnik
ASA Schalttechnik offers foot switches in the FM, FK, FL and FS series. The product portfolio includes, for example, single and multi-pedal large foot switches for heavy industry in a highly robust design with cast aluminium alloy, industrial foot switches with special protection and safety options or miniaturized foot switches made of plastic. The foot switches are made of high-quality materials and are mechanically stable, functional and safe. The flexible range of switches in the various series has the right variant for every application. The range of foot switches for machines is rounded off by protection options such as locking pawls and accident protection covers, industrial foot switches with analog outputs, USB foot switches or energy-autonomous wireless foot switches without interfering cables.
Special versions and customer-specific solutions for industrial foot switches with individually colored housings, covers and protective hoods are available on request.
Where are foot switches used?
Foot switches are used where switching operations need to be carried out reliably, but the hands are required for other activities and must remain free. Typical applications include the operation of machines, devices or systems in industry, trade, medical technology or in commercial and special vehicles. It can also be used as an emergency stop foot switch to stop dangerous machine functions.
